Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters - Splash Out Charters Limited
The following terms and conditions of hire apply to all U-drive (you drive yourself) charters. A master mariners ticket is not required, however Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters reserves the right to accept or decline applications for hire. Minimum age for a U-drive skipper is 25 years. Minimum requirement is a Day Skipper Certificate or similar qualification. Safety equipment must be carried on board at all times. Life jackets are provided for persons over 26kg. The hirer acknowledges that they will be responsible for the provision of life jackets and/or suitable buoyancy equipment for all passengers under this weight (these can be hired from the Coastguard). ![]() Special rates negotiated for regular bookings and long term hire and rental. Late return penalty $70 per hour. Valet Charges A cleaning deposit fee of $150 will be charged at the onset of your charter but will be reimbursed if the boat is left in a clean, tidy condition and all waste removed. Insurance Excess / Security Bond For insurance purposes $2,000 bond will be refunded and is required before departure (usually left as an open Visa or MasterCard credit card). Provided there is no loss or damage to the vessel or equipment, the bond will be refunded, within 7 days of the completion of the charter. Deposit and Confirmation of Booking Charter is confirmed upon receipt of 50% deposit of the total charter fee and acceptance of the booking application by Splash Out Charters Ltd. Bookings made less than 14 days prior to departure must be fully paid at the time of booking. Balance of Charter Fees and the excess / security bond is payable a minimum of 14 days prior to departure. Cancellation of Booking Upon cancellation of a charter by the hirer, the charter fee will only will be refunded on the following terms:
Cancellations by either party due to bad weather will result in a postponement of the charter.
No refund is payable. ![]() Pre Charter Briefing It is important that the skipper and mate attend the pre charter brief at the time specified, preferably in advance of the charter and prior to arrival of passengers. Briefing takes approximately one hour to complete boat handling instructions. In compliance with Safe Ship Management the charterer provides charts, safety equipment, an inventory list and a thorough familiarisation of the vessel and the cruising area. Time ExclusionsThe vessel is hired on the condition that it is driven during daylight hours only, with clear visibility. The vessel is to be securely moored before dusk. Motoring at night is NOT PERMITTED unless in an emergency, when there is a safety risk to either passengers or vessel. Motoring in vision impaired conditions of heavy rain or fog is not permitted. Alcohol Consumption The skipper warrants that he/she will not consume any alcohol, nor use any drugs, which may impair judgement, during the entire hire period. Anchoring and Winches To ensure the safety of the vessel and it’s contents, under no circumstances is the vessel to be left unattended at night and must be kept in view, if going ashore during daylight hours. The vessel is not to be anchored in depths over 15m using the chain anchor. The rope anchor is to be used for deeper water anchorages. PLEASE NOTE: Burnt out anchor winches and lost anchors are the hirer’s responsibility with regard to repair and replacement. Animals and Firearms Animals and firearms are not permitted on the vessel. Smoking For health and safety, smoking is not permitted on the vessel. Diving All dive bottles must have rubber boots and should preferably be bagged. The provision of a suitable bin for weight belts, catch bags and all dive equipment is required. Difficulties At any time before or during the charter, should, in the sole opinion of Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters, the hirer’s actions (or lack thereof) indicate the hirers experience might not be considered adequate to skipper the vessel? Auckland's Best Bareboat Charters reserves the right to cancel this charter and/or provide a professional skipper at the hirer’s expense. In the event this clause is invoked, no refund is available for any unused portion of the charter. Liability Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters undertakes to perform these services with reasonable care and skill and will not be liable for any loss or damage which results from the act, default or omission of any person other than Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters and Coastal Charters employees or agents. Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters are not responsible for any act of God, weather disruptions, on water event postponement, dangers incidental to the sea, fire, ship wreck, collision, boating accident, running aground, on board accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of governments or other authorities de jure or de facto, wars whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, deaths, pilferage, epidemics, quarantines or medical or customs regulations. Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters cannot guarantee the positioning of the vessel for any on-water activity/entertainment. The hirer indemnifies Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters against any claim made against it, themselves or their guests where such claim relates to loss or damage suffered on the charter vessel or to other vessels. The hirer agrees to pay for any damage or cleaning costs attributable to them, or their guests while on board the vessel. Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters acts only as an agent/facilitator for the boat or event operator and the charterer agrees therefore that Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters accepts no liability for any loss whatsoever suffered by the charterer. Parking Z Pier has pay and display parking. In addition, some spaces are reserved for car-trailer combinations. There are signs in the car park. Please read them, pay the fee and park accordingly. Auckland’s Best Bareboat Charters – Splash Out Charters Limited and Coastal Charters accepts no responsibility whatsoever for damage, or towed-away cars. Please bring plenty of coins with you, display your paid ticket on your dash and park in the appropriate area. Z Pier is situated near the Harbour Bridge: If you are travelling from the Southern or Western motorways: Take the Nelson Street Turn Off. At the end of Nelson Street, Turn Left into Fanshawe Street. Turn right into Beaumont Street at second set of lights. First left into Westhaven Drive around S bend, then about 70 metres turn right into Z Pier Public boat ramp Car Park. North end of car park is Z Pier. Park in the LINED SINGLE PARK AREA and use the Pay ‘n’ Display machine over $2 per hour. Place your ticket on your vehicle dash otherwise you will be towed and to retrieve your vehicle will be $220.00.
